Hi minna-san,
May I ask your help?
I am planning to take JLPT N4 next year.
What books are the best investment to buy?
I know that Minna No Nihongo 1 and Genki1 are definetely not enough.
I also hear that books by White Rabbit are best.
But I am confused. There are many books in Kinokuniya.
May you advise me title and link (if possible)?
Is practise/exercise/mock paper important?
Thank you!! |

JLPT study (http://www.jlptstudy.com) has the best learning materials which are sufficient for you to pass N4. Genki 1 and 2 should also help you pass the test. It says "elementary" but Genki2 is definitely not for the complete beginners. Also I created Kanji quiz for the JLPT tests for my students. You just need to type in your answer and questions are randomly selected each time, so please check it out. http://www.yumitolesson.com/japanese-language-proficiency-test-n4/ |

Yumi-san,
I went to your website and I got nanatsu and tsukuenoshita wrong because they should be nanatu and tukuenoshita. Do you know whether JLPT accepts Kunrei spelling as correct?
Thanks in advance for your reply!

Hi Margy,
JLPT does not accept Kunrei spelling or any other form of romanization, because the entire exam (including the instructions) is in Japanese, so in kana and kanji only. And all anwers are multiple choice, so you don't have to write any Japanese. |

I wonder why the practice tests have Japanese to English and English to Japanese. Oh well, good to know that there is no romanization. Thank you! |
