electronic dictionary/app recommendations?

guys, I know this looks a lot like SPAM... but I really do like this iPhone app (EDICT with Grammar). I don't need to know the root word to look it up... I can type "tabeta" and it tells me that is the past tense of taberu... to eat.

If the moderator decides this is SPAM I do apologise in advance... and if you do, ... please let me continue on the site anyway, I won't mention products again. I won't mention web sites or anything like that until the moderator has a chance to review this one. I don't want to get kicked out with my first post!

I really like the look of this site. I did JLPT 3 back in 2005 myself... and I did find the lack of online resources... like official lists was completely lacking.

And it looks like this community is a great thing.

i have tried the app that you were talking about as i got curious and i did not have anything better to download anyway so i gave it a try. i must say that it is really helpful and it is really a quick reference guide especially to newbies like me. thank you for this information!

For electronic dictionaries, you can't go wrong with Casio Ex-Word or Canon Wordtank. I've had 3 Wordtanks over the years and they have been really helpful.

There are also dictionaries available for Nintendo DS -- Mine is called Kanji Sono Mama Rakubiki Jiten. It has handwriting input so you can write whatever Kanji you want to look up, and the system will show you which Kanjis match your input and you can choose from there.

For iPhone, my ultimate favorite is imiwa?. Yes, the question mark at the end is included. It's such a powerful dictionary with lots of examples and compound words.
