Kanji in Context -- Workbooks necessary or not?

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I've heard nothing but good things about Kanji in Context (http://www.amazon.com/Kanji-in-Context-Reference-Book/dp/4789007537/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1298421634&sr=8-1) so I'm planning on buying it in the near future.

My question is whether the workbooks that go along with the main text are really worth the extra $50-60. If someone who has used them could give me an idea of what they contain and useful they found them, I would be very appreciative. If anyone is really feeling generous, I'd also like to see scans of a few pages, just so I can have a concrete understanding of the books' contents.
