Not sure if anyone will be able to help with this, I'm hoping some people using this forum are living in Japan.
I have the option of studying for a year in Oita, and wondered if anyone could give me their opinion on whether or not the Oita dialect would be difficult to work with. I appreciate in classes it would be standard japanese, but would conversing with regular people living in Oita / Kyushu be difficult, or are the dialects not really much of a problem?
I don't want to pick up too many bad habits, but at the same time I think learning some slang might be fun, and having a dialect other than standard might be quite... exotic?
