Hi all

I was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of exactly how much I should be taking away from the Japanese for Busy People books.

I'm nearing the end of the first book so obviously I'm still quite the beginner, but I've found that some of the phrases used in the target dialogues don't always stick and there is no mention of them again.

I've been consistently scoring 90%+ on the quizzes and know the majority of the vocab, (still finding the odd little bit on particles a little challenging but nothing I can't handle by going over it).

Should I be worried or am I (in a sense) good to go. Any tips/advice greatly appreciated.

(Also, big recommendation for the Kanji book series by Bojinsha, definite must have to learn Kanji)

Hi,

I think you should go all the way to Book 3 to get a better understanding of the language. (^_^)

Thank you for the quick reply

I definitely see that :P
I was just a little worried that perhaps I'm not picking up everything that I'm meant to from the book, but as I said; I'm consistently scoring highly in the quizzes which leaves me second guessing my doubts lol

I've got the first 2 books and I'm going to get a copy of the 3rd quite soon. I've also got a copy of Minna No Nihongo and Genki. Do you think they're suitable for a beginner or should I hold off on them for a little?

Thanks again for your help Very Happy

For Minna no Nihongo, it's best that you use it with a teacher.

For Genki, you can use it along side with Japanese for Busy People as a reference text if you are unsure of the grammar points. (^_^)

I thought as much, and I only have the textbook and not the translated accompanying one which would make studying from Minna No Nihongo far more difficult. I'll try using Genki with Japanese for Busy People as you recommend. Thank you

Any other advice or suggestions are greatly welcomed
