Hi Spurry,
Can we have a new section for the forum for all those that have passed level 1 and want to have discussion on further study? I also think having a section to discussion on how else to study Japanese other through using the JLPT would be nice (especially for after level 1).
Also a section dedicated to reading novels or something would be cool too since I have been getting some people interested in reading novels. It would be great to have a spot to suggest novels, discuss the plots, ask about difficult to understand sentences and post reviews on difficultly of the language used in it and so on.
If anyone has any suggestions, or has an opinion about this, please share your thoughts. |

Hi,
I think that's a reasonable idea . I'm quite weary of 'topic explosion', and I'll try and stick fairly tightly to JLPT related topics but "JLPT 1 and beyond" is something I can live with.
I'll sit on it, and wait to see if anyone else has any ideas (in this thread) before creating anything. |

Well, I'd say that just defining the "level 1" forum as suitable for anything about both level 1 studies and how to continue once you've passed is reasonable. I would guess the two groups' interests are almost totally congruent.
And I also think it would be very nice to have a separate section for reading in general, rather than just as preparation for a test level. But I think it should not be a part of "beyond level 1"; after all, you tend to start to try independent reading already before you take level 2. |

I'm new here, so feel free to ignore me but I really like the idea of having some kind of reading forum. I noticed a few suggestions for books to read but it would be nice to have one place to go for that kind of information.
BTW, I'm studying for level 2 right now... |

I think it's a good idea to change the Level 1 forum to "Level 1 & Beyond"- maybe it would encourage more activity in there.
Also, I'm interested in having an "other proficiency tests" forum. I haven't come across a dedicated forum to the BJT or J-Test yet*- usually the posts are mixed in with posts related to the JLPT, and it would be useful to have the information gathered together in one place.
*(If there is already a forum out there that focuses on either the BJT or J-Test, please let me know!) |

Honestly I think the book forum is a really good idea even though my Japanese isn't actually to that point yet. First of all reading actual Japenese books is a really great way to increase vocabulary. It will also help people read Japanese more fluently for the test and real life. Not to mention reading can be vastly more interesting than studing and can make a nice break from normal studies. Plus if there was actually a place to discuss Japanese books on this site it would encourage this and make the task of finding nad actually reading the books much less daunting.
oops, that got a little long sorry.... |

I registered today mostly to express support for a book forum. I've been lurking for a while. |

Ummm...I came to appologise for digging up an old topic based on this... I'm sorry!!!
Anyways, it shows that I should look more before actually diggin... *sighs*
I would like to show my expression of interest in the books/novel area as well...however as my personal experiences on being an Admin on a past manga site (currently non-existent) it may be hard to maintain the spam as people start talking away from the question or topic in hand.
As already mentioned, a system may possibly need to be put into place beforehand...
Also, I would also be interested in the change from 'Level 1' to 'Level 1 & Beyond'. |
